Placement
Students who have taken Greek, lived in Greece, or are native-Greek speakers, will need to take a placement test BEFORE enrolling into Modern Greek. Students who have never taken Greek before nor lived in Greece or in a Greek family, should sign up for Modern Greek 101.
If you have previously studied Modern Greek anywhere (elementary, middle or high school or another college/university) or if you learned Greek by living in an Greek-speaking country or home and do not have transfer credit, you must take the UIC placement test.
Transfer students with Modern Greek credit from another college/university should consult their advisor.
Note: Students may only take the placement test once per year.
