Op-ed by Young Kim on democracy and drama in the New York Daily News
A new op-ed by Young Richard Kim, associate professor and head of Classics and Mediterranean Studies and associate professor of History, in the New York Daily News explores the importance of theater for democracy. Looking at the historical context of Ancient Greece, Prof. Kim highlights key role of drama in Athenian democracy as "a place where difficult, controversial, and even sacrilegious ideas were given voice" before a reflective audience, creating a space of open discussion and debate.
This is the second piece Prof. Kim has written as part of Public Voices Fellowship for The OpEd Project.
