2024 Tracy Lecture and CAMS Student Awards
The CAMS Department has revived its distinguished lecture series, the Tracy Lecture, named in honor of one of its founding members, Fr. Theodore Tracy, S.J. This year’s speaker was Professor Christian Mann, of the University of Mannheim, whose lecture was entitled, “Athletic Warriors-Warlike Athletes? On the Relationship between Sport and War in Ancient Greece.”
The department has also brought back its tradition of awards (with new names) for its outstanding students. This year’s honorees are:
- The CAMS Award for Outstanding Modern Greek Student: Demi Psyhogios
- The Mustapha Kamal Award for Outstanding Arabic Minor: Salmah Abdulkadir, Mariam Jabari
- The Allan Kershaw Memorial Award for Outstanding Latin Student: Aria Brown
- The Bea Heiderman Memorial Award for Outstanding Classical Studies Minor: Bernadette Pitt-Payne
- The John Vaio Memorial Award for Outstanding Classical Studies Major: Morgan Witek
Congratulations to all, and thank you to Prof. Man for a fascinating lecture!
