The Department of Classics and Mediterranean Studies teaches and conducts research on the languages, cultures, and histories of the people of the pre-modern Mediterranean world, offering a wide variety of courses in Classical Studies, Latin, Arabic language and culture, and Modern Greek language and culture. Students can complete a major and/or minor in Classical Studies, as well as a minor in Arabic. The department curriculum is interdisciplinary and can touch upon many subjects, ranging from mythology to drama and philosophy, from sciences to gender studies, from political theory to sociology and anthropology--a complete liberal arts education in a single department.
